Agriculture Labour Pension

Agriculture Labour Pension which was previously handled by Labour Department was later transferred to the local bodies based on the Government Order No. (P)/18/98/Employment dated 16.04.1998 as a part of decentralization, and the revised rules of the 1993, Constitutional amendments.At present the local bodies have been entrusted with the task of receiving the application, processing,granting pension.As per the funds sanctioned timely, pensions are being send to the beneficiaries.

Process involved

• In the Prescribed application format, submit the application for pension to the concerned Grama Panchayat /Municipality /Corporation Secretary.
• The Enquiry should be conducted within 45 days after submitting the application and the beneficiary list should be finalized with in 45 days of receipt of the application after enquiry.
• Any appeal against the beneficiary list should be submitted with in 30 days to the concerned district collector and the Government can take the right decision against the appeal.
• Once approved, the pensioner will be eligible to get the pension from the first week of next month on wards considering the availability of fund.
• Finally, the eligible pension amount fixed by the Government of Kerala from time to time shall be send to the beneficiary.

Criteria for Allotting Agriculture Labour Pension

  1. Age of 60 years or higher
  2. Permanently residing within the Kerala State for a continuous period of not less than 10 years.
  3. Should be worked as agriculture labour for a period of 10 years or more under landowners.
  4. Must be a member of Kerala Agricultural Workers Welfare Fund.
  5. Having a family annual income of or less than Rs.100000/-.
  6. Applicant should not be a labour of plantations.
  7. Applicant must be a destitute.
  8. No person shall be eligible for the pension, if the person applied for any Social Welfare pensions.
  9. No person shall be eligible for the pension, if the person is in receipt of any other Social Welfare pensions.
  10. No person shall be eligible if he/she resorts to habitual begging.
  11. Applicant is not eligible if the person is admitted to a poor home.
  12. Applied at the local body where the person is residing.
  • Special Amount
    i. Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension (75 Years Above) – Rs 1500
    ii. Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme (Disability 80% Above) – Rs 1100    .
